Koh Phangan

Haad Yuan beach is located north of Haad Rin where the full moon party takes place famous. The beach is about three miles north to Haad rin - the southeastern side of Koh Phangan.

Access to the beach is very difficult with a car, and if you choose to get there this way, it is better to hire a taxi and driver with four-wheel vehicle and dont try to reach there by yourself.

The most popular way to arrive is by boat and the trip costs between 150 - 400 Baht, but Thailand and especially Koh Phangan rates are a synergy of time, the amount of people and the greed of the service provider.

As all the East Coast, unlike most beaches on Koh Phangan, Haad Yuan is an excellent beach for swimming with deep clear water and spectacular view of Koh Phangan.

Those who come to the Haad Yuan, usually come as part of a tour boat around the island or for a short visit, but there are many who fall in love instead and come back only to this area each time.

The beach is famous also for the weekly party every Friday night at a place called Guy's Bar. The party has been running for several years and is well known to go on until late morning.

A Secret little beach town with just a handfull of bungalows are available and despite the proximity of Haad Rin beach, the place is still pretty quiet and perfect for a short and relaxing vacation.

Eden Garden happens every Saturday (apart from low season closures like the rest of the island).

You will also find Guy's Bar here, This Funky Space, far away from all the main avenues & venues in the busy Haad rin or Baan Tai is the perfect party get-away for the whole weekend.
The music played there is Funky and minimal house hosted. When the party finishes you can head straight to Eden!

Sri Thanu, the beautiful west side of the Island where the Yogi's take refugee and the families play while the couples in love rest on romantic beaches and the honey mooners cuddle the night away under the stars in beautiful resort gardens..

It is good place for families also. Here you find a variaty of family entertainment as well like different water games, zip line jungles, gong meditation, chockolate making, cooking classes, yoga classes and much more.

Sri Thanu is famous for its yoga and spiritual schools and there is a certain 'calmness' in the air around this area. The main yoga schools attract hundreds of students a year, places like Samma Karuna, Ananda, Gaia Yogashala and Agama are all located on this side of the island and offer many different courses from TTC to detox retreats and lots of conscious courses.

There are a plethora of restaurants for all tastes including Vegan and Vegetarian and also great Western and Thai restaurants to enjoy. There are resorts ranging from basic to luxury depending on your budget and lots of houses to rent if you decide to stay longer.

This area is a mecca for vegan and vegetarian food. Places like Eat.co offer superb vegan comfort food that has the ability to satisfy even a meat lovers palette!

There are some wonderful shops in Sri Thanu like Eri's jewelry shop and LEKshop Organic where you can find all your organic beauty and health products.

SriThanu is only a very short trip from Thong Sala and the bike ride along the coast is gorgeous with plenty of photos opportunities along the way - If you are on a motorbike then where your helmet and be slow as driving fast means you will miss some the stunning views but there are some steep hills to tackle.

Phangan Cove is a wonderful resort set on the perfect beach with an equally great restaurant tucked away down a track from the road in Sri Thanu.

This health and wellness area of Koh Phangan shows the other side of the island really well, it retains its magic and the spiritual side of things even add to that!

Om shanti om....

Haad yao and Haad Salad are the places for the holiday relaxers. Here you will find peace and quiet and all the beauty in the world.

Haad Yao (Means in Thai 'long beach') is one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Phangan, spectacular sunsets and developing center with bars, delis and local restaurants and refinement.

Haad Yao has developed over the years maintaining sense of closeness and connection to the environment which attracted a lot of travelers over the years.

Today is a mix of young backpackers looking  for a quiet and cheap place near the beach and a population more established of couples and families that prefer quality housing opposite the beach Haad Yao.

The restaurants usually places near the coast and offers different kinds of western and Thai food.

Spend the nights in snooker clubs or one of the bars on the beach.  You have Pirate Bar around the corner for a monthly Moon Set Party.

Near Haad Yao, Koh Phangan's west coast has coral reef surrounding the island to the west and south, the reef area is considered beautiful Haad Yao Koh Phangan and can be reached in the diving with a mask alone.

A nice fairytale atmosphere where everything is sweet and peaceful.

In the northern sector of Koh Phangan is Chaloklum, a fisherman’s village that not too long ago became a very popular spot for diving.

As Chaloklum is a harbour it boasts some beautiful seafood restaurants and others ranging from local Thai cuisine to French and Italian delicacies.

Fishing is still hugely important to the local community and you may be lucky enough to see freshly caught squid drying out in the sun which is a main income for a lot of families here.

This beach  village is quite a ways away from the happenin' party towns on the opposite side of the island.  One can assume that the majority of Chaloklum's inhabitants chose to live or stay here because they prefer a quieter environment and  value a more peaceful and private setting for their home.  Many of the foreigner that have been on the island for several years end up staying here.

Luxury villas, houses are bungalows are available for those that plan to stay for longer.

The rest of the homes are occupied by the local Koh Phangan (born and raised) Thai fisherman families and a growing community of expats (resident farrangs), yogis, and artists of all kinds.

This is a great choice of which beach for people that desire a quieter setting…like, for the ones that have a business online and work from the comforts of their home, or maybe for an author who needs silence in order to focus clearly and write away.

The beaches of Chaloklum are an ideal place for water sports and activities that are in favor of calm waters.

There is a wide variety of alternatives to keep people of all ages going with activities like snorkelling, kite surfing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, and jet skiing, to name a few.

A three meter long shoreline forms the perimeter of the bay with its trail of beachfront private bungalows, resorts, beaches, restaurants, and more.  There are many yoga, detox, and meditation schools around here as well for those going down a more spiritual path on thier Koh Phangan adventure.

There are boats available from here that will take you to bottle beach which is a beautiful sandy beach and perfect for a day out of sunbathing and a few beers or cocktails on this very secluded and private beach.

To get to Chaloklum you can take a taxi or a boat or if you have a motorbike it will take you 20 minutes up the motorway (ha!) in the middle of the island.

Thong Nai Pan is the place you want to be with your lover or for the chilled out alone travelers.

There are two beaches in Thong Nai Pan, Noi and Yai. Noi is where you will find the high class 5 star hotels and Yai has more chilled out resorts and remains more island style.

No one annoys you up here. Not too many stupid tourist and the locals not too tired of stupid tourists yet. Used to be small little village with sweet little bungalows on bounty beaches with breathtaking views.

With its heavenly pure white sand which is soft upon your bare feet and turquoise waters which are deep enough to swim in at this side of the island it is a favourite location of families, couples and honeymooners, and local expats who drive to Thong Nai Pan Noi to enjoy their own little vacation on the island which they live on.

We all know it can be hard to find good ocean swimming spots on the island as a lot of places are quite shallow. Yai beach has good waters which are nice for swimming and also chilling out in. You can also canoe round to Noi beach if you want some adventure!

At the end of Yai beach you can go up to visit an amazing viewpoint over these two beaches.
