Which Party Is Right For You?

Right so we can count well over ten main parties that happen on Koh Phangan but there are actually dozens of them.

There are warm up parties at hostels, Moon parties galore and after parties for the hardcore cheesy quavers amongst you! You are spoilt for choice! No wonder Phangan has a reputation for partying, well it’s how the island has become well known, starting with The Full Moon over thirty years ago.

But if you don’t want to go to them all, you don’t have to.

Choose your party wisely Phanganists and you’ll have the time of your life, find the perfect venue for your taste of music which you desire.

Which party is right for you though…?

Let’s start with the famous Full Moon Party.
If you’ve never been to Full Moon then it is worth checking out anyway just to witness the gathering of the thousands of neon clad party goers who have gathered together and having fun on Haad Rin beach and in fact although the main genre of music on the beach is EDM, it does cater for many tastes.

Sunrise Bar plays Drum and Bass, down the end of the beach you’ll find some Trance and take a walk off the beach and you can even get some good quality House music from Sandcastle or FUBAR.

Commercial, Pop, R&B and EDM
If you’re into that typical party feeling and music then the best place for you will be the bars on Haad Rin Beach.

Cactus is well known for its pop and R&B classics on the beach and The Drop In is the longest running bar there and you’re bound to have endless fun.

House Music
Phangan is now becoming well known and respected for its House music. With many talented resident Djs on the island now and international names being flown in, you really are spoilt for choice whether it's underground, tech or deep house you fancy.

Jungle Experience have amazing acts twice a month, Waterfall Party do the same and you’ll also find quality House music at Loi Lay, Pirates Bar, Merkaba, Lighthouse and Backyard.

Trance and Psy
Although House music is now the talk about town when it comes to parties, Trance is the originator!

And it’s still going strong here on the island with parties such as Blackmoon, situated right on the beach for you to enjoy dancing and positive energy on the soft sand.

The Half Moon still has Trance, mainly progressive, and Ban Sabai is popular and is usually open as an after party to the moon parties plus other times. 

Check out Shiva Moon as well, nestled in Ban Tai jungle. You will find a private place to dance away to some amazing Psy Trance.

Live Music
Maybe you prefer some live musicians instead of electronic beats but don’t worry, Phangan can offer you this as well!

Bermuda Bar run by singer Muna has live music nights every Sunday with some of the island’s best performers and if you are up to standard then you can join in.

Wednesday Bar, as its name suggests is open only on a Wednesday and you can also experience live music ‘thai style’ at Saturn in Thong Sala plus many other places. Keep an eye on our events listings!

Reggae
Thailand loves reggae, and it's obvious why! With its laid back lifestyle and picture perfect beaches, it's the choice of music for a lot of chill bars here on the island.

There are many places for you to enjoy reggae and dub here, Rasta Home has it live, and Reggae Bar in Haad Rin is your typical Bob Marley style hangout.
