Finding your way to the travel agency – which there is thousands of, with different offers and different prices and which nearly all – in the end – go to the exact same bus!
You have a few choices of VIP or common and there is surely a few of them who lives up to their advertisement!
I am still to find the same luxury massage seated absolutely comfortable bus that you can find from Bangkok to Laos – but not to Koh Phangan.
Needless to say that the most common way is in a regular bus – with no toilets and a few food stops along the 12 hours way before the last ferry ride to the Islands.
There is options of half’n’half boat and bus and I am sure some people really feel that difference to that!
You can catch the train as well, but so far I have always had funny waiting hours and wasted time – to have a faster ride but longer waits ..
Then there is of course the easy ride option. Take a flight from Bangkok directly to Samui and the boat over to Phangan. It is what they say the easy way – but you still have to expect waiting hours here and there!

Haad rin is THE village for anyone who comes for a 2 week vacation looking for party, party, party!
This is the place to go for the Full Moon and the Full Moon after party Back Yard.
It’s a perfect village for any tourists who want everything close, chilling days and party nights with House music and entertainments.
A beautiful beach with nice swimming water – for jet skis more than snorkelers and full of restaurants and bars all the way down. Sun rise or Sun set.
A bit further up to the north on the left side of the Island, you get to Ban Khai and Ban Tai area.
This is the second party area.
This is where the 3 other Moon parties, Half, Black & Shiva moon is held. The Jungle Experience and the famous after party place Ban sabaii.
It’s the Centre of Many Trance, Tech & Electro people’s interest.
Here are little traveller-families collecting everywhere. In gardens, on the beach or in the jungle.
Further up same way is Thong sala.
The second biggest village on the island and not yet a full tourist marked.
You can find everything you like here from you western societies and luxuries but also lots of local snacks and local stores.
The Thong sala food marked – starting in the afternoon and going on to 9 – 10 pm is one of the best places to get to know the local Thai cooking and meet up with friends for a dinner together.
Every Saturday they have open walking street in the old China street and also here you will find many special traditional Thai snacks & goods.
That means that in Thailand the market will always be moonlighted by the end of the evening. Sun goes down at 6 or 7 pm and at 9 pm the stars are out and shining in symphony with the Moon!It's called a night market, but in real time life its maybe more what you would call an evening market.
From 5 pm to 10 pm.
So a Night Market it is !
Sri Thanu, Had Yao & Chaloklum
The further up the island you get from here - Sri Thanu, Had Yao & Chaloklum - the more chilled and deserted places you will find.
Along with that, the yoga, healing, spa and detox centre will start to pop up more and more frequently.
It is the part of the island where you can still feel the old Phangan and where the chillers, relaxers, family and Lovers go to.
Last but not at least ... is Had Tien and Had Yuan.
The most of the right side of the Island is not possible to get to by bike, car or foot.
This is a Sanctuary for all Healthy and Spiritual reasons!
They have superfood restaurants and massaging healers from all our the world. Every day different work shop and a very special family life style.
Tong Nai Pan
There is a few places in the middle of the island like Tong Nai Pan and Tan sadet.
Here are the most incredible paradise beaches to find, but not accessible by anything else than boat.
Tan sadet have a crystal clear drinking water - water fall running.
Very beautiful natural spots in the jungle!
The beach side is incrediable too!
The small nearly private bay lagune you always dreamt about, with the whitest finest sand you ever saw with waters that looks like crystals. Private, cause not many comes here!
This is Koh Phangan.
And No .. this is so far from Koh Phangan. But .. this is the base.
From here you will have to find your own way.
Follow your heart and your common sense and you will also find your space here.
They say .. “they” .. – that Phangan is the Door, Koh Samui the Dragon and Koh Tao the Turtle.
Mountains on Phangan have a majority of crystals compared to other places.
Every morning the hills are spitting out new crystals and the waterfalls are running through the mountains down to the sea.
Crystal and water are both very powerful the hippies and the old Thai families say.
What you believe is up to you! I am sure that whatever you believe – it will be the truth!
