Nurika a Multi Artist on Phangan

Nurika

My real name is Nuria, but my grandma always called me Nurika.
I was born in Barcelona, but I feel for Ibiza, where I was living for 15 years and learning a lot!
 

"I have listened to electronic music since I was very young.
 

The first time I played myself, was at a party in Ibiza around 12 years ago in San Juan

I remember it so clearly. It was a party where only girls were playing. Erika’s house in San Juan!
This was such an amazing experience that I had to continue!
 

I began to play on Ibiza in underground parties in the country side, and Las Dalias aswell.
Trance is not for the Clubs on Ibiza, this is a different scene!
 

Later I played in other small parties around the world. Nothing big, just small parties where I was anyway ..
F.x I played in Bali in Gili air, where I anyway was to enjoy the party and do my design collection!
 

I have now been playing on Phangan 2 years!"

Nurika has so far performed in Pirate bar, Ban Sabaii, Shiva moon & Sramonara waterfall party!
 

What is your Koh Phangan story?

"I went to Thailand for the first time 8 years ago..

I came for the Green Spirit Festival and I didn’t go to Phangan. I was here with a boyfriend and he wanted to go somewhere else after the festival.
 

The next year I returned without BF and I arrived to Phangan with 2 crazy friends.

After 1 week here we found Ban Sabaii!

We were attending the Black Moon Culture and it was here that I met the boys from Ban Sabaii."

They told her to come to Ban Sabaii for the first time and after partying there a few times, she asked Johnny, if she could play also."
 

Weird story then happens!
Before she ever gets to introduce Johnny and Ban Sabaii to her music, it all gets stolen !!!
Believe this! 

Aaaaaall her music collected through many years and many friends, unreleased stuff and never to be made again stuff. Ooooh no!

Then begins the era of collecting new music !

Playing music and being a DJ is not Nurika's only skill !

She is also a fashion designer and every year she leaves for Bali to buy new materials and begin next year’s collection.
She makes every year a new collection, that she design herself.

“When I go to Bali its all about work ! 

I go there to produce the whole collection and buy materials. My OWN designs  that I have prepared for this special time of every year ..
5 years now, where I make my own designs and every year I bring home a new collection!”

Her Designer Brand is Japanese and called Kurage Eye. Kurage means Jellyfish.

Nurika's designs are available in Moon Tribe Psy Shop, next to Ban Sabaii and in Tongsala in Lek Art.

Also in Psy7.com in Berlin and Flower Hayes in Japan are Nurika's outlets.

"They all sell my clothes and it really helps to spread my design around the world.. Yeay !!"

Nurika makes Alternative clothes, but clothes that every one can use. It’s very special! Go check it out !

Her official work on Phangan is yet another artistic talent. She is the photographer for Magic Phangan!

She has been taking pictures for many years also and is the official Photographer for The Experience Festival every New Year on Koh Tao!
 

Also Love has crossed her path;

"I married 4 years ago with a Japanese DJ. His name is Take cosmok.

He produces his own music.
I met him at an Al Andalus festival! We fell in love immediately and after 1 year we married!

We probably made one of the best psychedelic wedding in Ibiza ever ! In the middle of the forest. Beautiful deco and lots of DJ Friends.
All my friends are deco masters or Djs and they made an awesome party for us."

What projects are you currently involved with?

"Current project?  I’m ON it!

I play now stuff like Psy Trance forest, progressive, Twi Light and also lately the tech house .. !!"

I made the collection for this year and now I start to play in different venues.

I'm Dj'ing, because I love this music so much!

I just started to play more different styles also like tech house and techno .. electro styles .. it’s  freaking sexy music .. Pim Pam!

I learned a lot from being next to Venus Vibes and she introduce me a bit (beat) more to play different electronic styles. Thank you Anika!

I just play to enjoy!

I love to see my friends dance !
 

What are your next projects?

Making the new collection as I do every year ! I am on my project!

Right now I am doing what I really like to do! I’m in one of best moments in my life .. professional.

I play music and I sell my clothes!

This is more than ok, so  I am SO ok ! I never expected so much, I’m a lucky snitz !

What are your future plans for Phangan?

I don’t think too much about the future, I live more in the present!
In this moment I have what I want and I have No plan!
For the moment I’m gonna stay here and do my thing! This will sure lead to wherever I’m supposed to be ... perfect ...!
 

What is the best thing you ever been involved with or done?

Oiii ..  have many many nice memories .. mmmmmmmmm ..
 

Do you find Koh Phangan to be a good place for your work?

Ban Sabaii opened so many doors to me and they gave me my fair chances to play there!

BSB is one of the best places I have ever been to! I really respect them and I surely love them! This place has been amazing for me ..
 

Where is your favourite place here?

I love everywhere here! You know .. I like every place and every corner of this island!

I don’t have a fav place! I have small places around the island that Thai friend brought me too. Secret little spots that add to all the other beauty here!

What do you wish to learn from your Phangan experience?

Thai language and Thai culture! Except cooking .. I hate cooking .... LoL

There are so many interesting artists coming to Koh Phangan and so many talented residents here already, so it is a good place for development
 

How did you get to where you are today? What is your life philosophy?

This question is more for people who came with a plan. I never did. I’m a free spirit .. I go with the flow and it led me here, so that’s what I will continue to do! Lets see what happens!

Yes, I just want to say that all my work, pictures, clothes and music are made with my best intentions and all my Love !

I'm Slowly slowly moving forward now. I don’t want to be something special, I just want to be Nurika, making clothes, taking nice pictures  and playing music! YES!
