As part of a government’s move to limit travel and rein in the third-wave Covid-19 spike, there will be no domestic airline flight departures after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

All domestic carriers agreed to suspend flights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said.

Domestic airlines usually operate nine flights to Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Hat Yai after 11 p.m. from Bangkok's two airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, only seven flights were planned for Sunday and three on Monday.

Their decision to end late-night flights followed a call by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand for all late services to be suspended.

Apisamai Srirangson, a CCSA assistant spokeswoman, thanked carriers for their cooperation and advised people to stay at home if any at all possible.
