What to do if you get homesick on Koh Phangan

Whilst many of us are on our travels through Koh Phangan or have decided to call the Crystal Island our home sometimes there are pangs of homesickness for everyone.

Whilst everyone deals with this differently the main thing is to remember why you are on Koh Phangan in the first place. It costs nothing to go and sit on the beach and have a think about things and the homesickness will soon pass.

Another obvious option is simply skype home and have a chat with you family and friends and they will will cheer you up in no time.....And then remember to go and have a sit on the beautiful beach!

There are many ways to make new friends on this island and this could involve not being afraid to go to a party on your own, there will be other solo travellers there too. There is even voluntary work involving beach cleans called the Green Cross Beach Clean. Many people get involved and you can have a chat and do some good to make the island cleaner. The local Thais' will love it that you have spent your time doing something good for the island it will make you feel great afterwards and you will have also met lots of new people with the same mindset. There are Animal charities where you will meet great people who too will help you get involved with anything from helping building or looking after the animals themselves by taking a dog for a walk. Koh Phangan is not a place to feel homesick or lonely or annoyed as it has too much to offer. If are are simply bored then have you ever tried Kite-Surfing? Diving? Wakeboarding? Zip Lining?

If the answer is no then give it a try you may find you will be doing these things for the rest of your life you love it so much. Plus you will make new friends there with a new common interest and they have probably felt homesick as well at some point.

Koh Phangan is full of people either travelling alone or with other friends and mainly Ferrangs and Thais’ alike will welcome you with open arms and to join their group of friends for a great time.
