Chris and Anastasiia Aicher are a fun-loving couple, German and Russian nationality who married in Norway. They love to travel, learn new cultures, people and languages and to keep developing, discovering unknown places, going on adventures and making their life one big long journey.
Chris has travelled to 88 countries and worked for a large tour operator for 5 years. Also as a media consultant in the field for a newspaper publisher for 18 years plus playing football and coaching for many more.
They love the Scandinavian countries because of their nature and the most down-to-earth people and so this is why they married there.
“We then started a 3 year trip around the world to find the place where we would like to live and work. To give a new place to the word ‘at home’. Where we feel welcome and find most of the things that are important in our lives”.
The couple was travelling in Indonesia when they suddenly had the idea to change their planned route at short notice and to make a 7-day detour to Koh Phangan to visit Chirs’s son and then travel to South Africa together.
“I was in Phangan for the first time in 1999 and was looking forward to the incredible change, of course. In advance, for whatever reason, I wrote in a few groups that I might be interested in buying a small resort and Rachel Curcher here in Phangan gave me a tip to meet up with a couple of friends”. 
This post led the couple to Retro Mountain Resort where they met Carlos and Isabell. They agreed within a week!
Chris and Anastasiia ended their world tour and took over the little paradise on earth. They changed a few things, attached great importance to the little things, perfected the service and with a lot of love, heart and soul and passion has now had over 1000 nights in their Retro Mountain during 2019.
“It was overwhelming, and exactly what I wished for, we stopped the world tour but people from all over the world came to us. I love it”.
They have experienced unbelievably great moments with guests, and over time they have won the trust of their neighbours. Many locals and many great people have been to Retro Mountain from all over the world.
“We are at home here”.
The couple’s house is only 50 meters above the resort and behind the house, in the middle of the jungle with fantastic views including the ocean and Koh Samui, all of this seen from the resort as well.
It all began one night when Anastasiia was giving a private piano concert, she had the idea to make a small terrace to have a barbecue with friends, neighbours and guests so they can spend pleasant hours relaxing.
The very next day the cleaning and clearing started. Chris brought WIN BO and his team to help with the clearing and building.
“I drew our idea on a cigarette box and we started”.
This was on March 13th, 2020. Honestly, Chris states that they had no idea what they were doing and that only 9 months later about 950 people from all over Thailand celebrated the New Year, something they would not have even dreamed of.
“In the course of time, every evening when I saw the development of the club alone and enjoyed the sunset, I saw everything unfold in my mind. A place for families, children, cinema, viewpoint, weddings, birthdays, lectures, events, parties, sunset DJs, music festivals, art markets and of course lovely laughing people”.
Their dreams came true.
In the last 11 months, Retro Mountain has hosted around 3500 people. The absolute highlight was the new years eve party but of course also the 1st Retro Mountain Festival with solar connexion, the family days, cinema nights, children's birthdays, yoga classes, gymnastics classes, school classes, dance classes, talks and discussion groups, drawing classes, candlelight dinners, 1 wedding, parties and many mega-events.
On Saturday 13th March 2021 they are planning a big event with the motto “2. Retro Mountain Festival - 1-year Retro Club”
The couple and Retro Mountain team hope that the situation will soon relax and that we can all go to all events on our beautiful island again carefree and without fears to experience unforgettable hours together.
Retro Mountain Club is approved for 490 people or a maximum weight of 52000 KG and is an ideal location for all types of events.
