Phangan through the Eyes of an Eight Year Old 'Diamond'

Where were you born and do you remember it?
I was born in Japan, I remember just the summer. It was nice and cosy, I was in a blanket.
I moved here when I was three. I came to Koh Phangan a few times before when I was one or two.

Do you like Koh Phangan?
Yes, because sometimes it’s hot and sometimes it gets cold then when it’s cold it gets hot.
In Japan they have summer and winter and one time I saw snow in Israel.

Where else have you been?
I have been to Japan, Koh Samui, Israel, I like Israel the best because in winter and summer you can pick fruit from the trees and vegetables and things.
You know what I picked? Strawberries!! It was the very end of winter.

Do you go to school?
I go to thai school now, sometimes I don’t wanna go to school though but I don’t have homework which I like.
I like art the best but we don’t do it anymore, maybe sometimes but only colouring.

You took some pictures recently, do you like photography?
Yes when I’m with my phone I take pictures a lot and when my phone is full I say ‘no I want to take more pictures!!’.
So my phone is full, I can’t take any more pictures, I haven’t deleted any, not even one.

What do you do for fun?
I sometimes sleep late, I can visit my friends and I can go to the jungle because I can’t go in the jungle when I am at school but now I can cause no school.
I sometimes climb on trees and sometimes my cats and dog follow me so I play with them, and you know these kind of mountains which are clean with no pointy things, I just roll down them.
And if I find animals there I sometimes play with them, crickets, I like crickets, and you know the spider webs well I play with them with my hands and also I play with some worms.
I don’t find so many animals but a lot of dirt and mud. I’m trying still to build a house there with some trees and things but I don’t know if I can do it.

What’s your favourite thing about Phangan?
I like to swim with the fishes in Haad Son, I love the fishes they’re my favourite.
Sometimes I will swim at another beach but I love Haad Son, sometimes there are sea cucumbers, I like to touch them and the sea cucumbers poo on me, I try to take it off, if you leave it on your hands it will stick for a few days.

What do you want to do when you’re older?
I don’t know I’m still thinking about it, I’m good at massage and drawing.
I love taking pictures, that’s my most favourite thing to do and sometimes when my phone is full I try my best to choose what I want to keep and I can’t choose.
