Recently scientists made a discovery about one species Of Jewel beetles called the Canadian fire beetle ...

They have the ability to detect flames of a forest fire up to 50 miles away using sensors in their pits .Not only that, but they can also hear the cracking of the wood and even sense combustion products in very small amounts using supersensitive receptors !

They lay their larvae in the bark of wood that's still smoldering because it is predator free.

Scientists are working to mimic the sensors to mass produce thousands of them to put around forests for early forest fire detection.
