The cabinet allows entry for cruises and yachts

The Cabinet agrees to allow STV, special tourist visa, for foreigners with yachts. 
The DDC allowed 60 yachts to enter Thailand with a total of 600 - 650 passengers and crew that will be quarantined inside the vessel for at least 14 days. The crew will be tested for COVID-19 using RT-PCR method three times before getting off the boat to travel around the country.
DDC expects to generate income of 2,100 million baht.

On October 28, Ms. Trisulee Traisanakul, the Deputy Spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, said that The Cabinet agrees to the guidelines for the Special Tourist Visa (STV).
 
After approval, foreigners will have the right to apply for the STV tourist visa at the immigration within 30 days after the enforcement notice. 

The specified qualifications of a foreigner eligible to apply for an STV tourist visa are as follows.

  • Entering on a tour cruise or by yacht for sports tourism. 
  • Arrival from a country with low or medium risk according to the classification of medical and public health ministry. 
  • Comply with the preventive measures as described by the government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. They should agree to quarantine inside the boat for at least 14 days with evidence entering the Kingdom for tourism by Cruises and sports.
  • A 100,000$ COVID-19 medical insurance policy evidence for the whole duration of the stay in Thailand is mandatory, or a Thai health and accident insurance coverage for the same period.
  • The minimum coverage in the case of an outpatient should be 40,000 Baht and for inpatient 400,000 baht. 
  • Evidence of a reservation and advance payment for accommodation.  
  • Harbor Department's guidelines for cruises and sport yachts entering Thai waters compliance.

 

Travelers qualified with those qualifications can apply for a tourist visa and pay a visa fee of 2,000 baht.
 
A waiver can be granted if a yacht has left the country of origin and is en route to Thai oceans before the announcement becomes effective. This group will be eligible to apply for the STV tourist visa for 30 days after the statement becomes effective.

After entering Thailand, The immigration officer will have the authority to extend the stay two more times for 90 days after the traveler will submit an application and pay the fee as described in the Ministerial Regulation.
