The government extended visa amnesty for stranded foreigners in Thailand until October 31 after it expired on September 26.
On Monday, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported the Interior Ministry had expanded the amnesty to tourists unable to return to their country during the pandemic.
The announcement comes after immigration offices in Bangkok and Pattaya were reportedly flooded by people seeking to extend their visas on Friday (September 25). Last week, Immigration said 150,000 foreigners remained under visa amnesty in Thailand.
Stranded foreigners who wish to remain in Thailand after October 31 must request an application before October 3.
