Thai Airways has admitted that it has kept debt rehabilitation from refunding unused tickets to customers.

THAI's Corporate Image and Communications Department said it was unable to give refunds at this point on Thursday as the Central Bankruptcy Court on Wednesday approved the airline's plea for restructuring under the bankruptcy act.

The airline is restricted by statutory obligations which at this point in time prevent it from disbursing refunds. Yet with no penalties, it guarantees to refund the money within six months.

The pandemic at Covid-19 has caused THAI to ground its planes. Unconditional refunds are just one of many remedies for customers, which also includes postponing travel dates without extra charge, extending the validity of the tickets and exchanging tickets for equally valuable travel vouchers.

The airline pledged to continue to look after customers holding valid tickets as well as members of its loyalty program, the Royal Orchid Plus.

The airline said it is confident that it will beat the odds and overcome the crisis that has plagued the company and that it will emerge stronger.
