When an Egyptian soldier believed to be diagnosed with Covid-19 was discovered to have toured shopping malls in Rayong province, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) took immediate measures.

Moreover, the family of a nine-year - old Thai girl diagnosed with Covid-19 is being examined after it has been discovered that her representatives are not in embassy housing, having lived in a condominium.

Former Minister of Public Health Sathit Pitutecha will visit Rayong on Tuesay while a Former Director-General of the Disease Prevention Agency will visit a condominium in Bangkok. Egyptian tourists stopped in Rayong on their way to a one-day trip to China, where they had military company, and then returned home to the province.

All were permitted to enter the country, says the CCSA, as they were classified as air crew under the conditions laid down by Thailand's Civil Aviation Authority. We were not told to quarantine because they had been arriving for fewer than 14 days but had to undergo virus checking.

Vice Adm Kitchpol Rienglekjamnong, general manager of U-Tapao airport, said only one member of the party, a soldier, sneaked out to visit shopping centres.

The Drama-addict Facebook account, which has more than 2 million fans, joining other social media users who shared the hashtag # Covid19 (in Thai), urged officials to announce precisely which locations the infected guy had been visiting.

The page stated that citizens had the right to learn for their own safety. Only by naming Rayong as the province visited had the center released the vaguest details at that time.

Mr Sathit said he would visit Rayong later on Monday and check out locations like central department store, Laem Thong shopping center and D Varee Diva Central Rayong Hotel.

Central on Monday reported that it had checked, and no Covid-19-infected patients visited the center, while the hotel said the Egyptian embassy had confirmed that the party had passed Covid screening.

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said Bangkok officials should enter local provincial workers to search for coronavirus contamination at every place visited by delegation leaders, as well as at every stage they came in touch.

After testing on a swab obtained from the 43-year-old man, the safety alert followed a clear report reported from the lab Sunday. He was one of three new reported cases which the CCSA revealed on Monday. The other two were Thais who had come back from jobs in Kuwait and Bahrain.

On July 6, the soldier and 30 others, plus their aircraft pilots, left Egypt and bound for the United Arab Emirates. The next day, Tuesday, they flew to Pakistan and arrived on Wednesday at U-tapao airport in Rayong.

The UAE, Pakistan, and Egypt are both hot spots for infections of Covid-19 detected in Thais returning home from overseas.

The information posted on the Facebook page of the CCSA stated that the group stayed in a provincial hotel.

The squad left U-tapao last Thursday for Chengdu, China, and returned the same day shortly before midnight, staying at the same room.

Dr Taweesilp said they were checked by health authorities on Friday, and there were unconfirmed indications that the soldier might have contracted the virus.

The group was back in Egypt on Saturday, the day before the laboratory confirmed the positive outcome.

The spokesman said there was cleaning of the hotel where the soldier and other delegation members stayed. During their stay in the province, the group visited other places including a shopping centre, he said, but he would not name the places.

"We'll look at all the locations they've been," the CCSA representative said.

Authorities would also improve the scanning at Rayong airport which was not enforced as strictly as it was at Suvarnabhumi airport. "We 're going to reconsider all practices" he said. Disease Control Department officials would be sent to perform tests on anyone who has visited the
two premises, Mr Sathit said.

The CCSA also announced on Saturday that a nine-year - old Thai girl who came home with her family from Sudan had checked positively.

Dr Taweesilp said she was hospitalized on Monday but the other four members of the family were not quarantined because they were a diplomat 's family. They also allegedly placed themselves in a condominium in Bangkok which was not identified by the CCSA.

Last Tuesday, the mother took everybody to get screened in Sudan before they left home, Dr Taweesilp said, and they all checked negative.

Both were screened on arrival three days later and the tests were negative but further thorough research revealed the baby was sick.

Officials were also reviewing the crime.
