The Digital Economy and Society Ministry is turning TOT phone booths into COVID-19 test kiosks.

In order to prevent infection risk among healthcare providers and to address personal protection devices (PPE), the Digital Economy and Society (DES) Department is transforming TOT phone booths into coronavirus test kiosks.

TOT senior executive vice president Morakot Thienmontree said the first batch of 50 booths, named "COVID boxes," is expected to be installed batch by this month and deployed to selected hospitals as needed. The Kiosks would help to ward off infection risk among healthcare workers and address the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The COVID box is an initiative led by DES minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta, who wants to play a part in supporting hospital medical and public health services by TOT, which is a state-owned enterprise, Mr. Morakot said.
