Thailand's head of the COVID-10 vaccine research committee said in a press conference on Wednesday that Thailand will postpone human vaccine trials because of insufficient manufacturing resources at overseas facilities in San Diego and Vancouver

Kiat Ruxrungtham, director of the vaccine research system at Chulalongkorn University, said that health authorities had scheduled human vaccine trials by October, but would postpone the maximum capability of the factories abroad for many months.

"It's very sad, but the world is running to manufacture COVID-19 vaccine and moving towards clinical trials to obtain regulatory approval," Kiat said, "but we hope that we will launch the clinical trial program before the end of the year."

1 billion baht (US$ 31.7 million) was given for funding to the National Vaccine Institute to promote the growth and manufacture of COVID-19 vaccines and other diseases at the Thai Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Of the 1 billion baht for vaccinations, 60 percent will be spent in the vaccine system of Oxford University and the remaining in its domestic project.

Thailand recorded 3,403 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 58 deaths.

Local transmission has not been verified for more than three months.
