In his news conference of 20 May 2020, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, Speaker at Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said that next year, Thailand plans to develop its own coronavirus vaccine.

In a collaborative research project undertaken by the University of Chulalongkorn, the National Vaccine Institute and the Medical Science Department, a vaccine is known as the COVID-19 type mRNA is being produced. The vaccine candidate was successfully tested in mice and will be tested next week in monkeys.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered the relevant authorities, in the expectation of Thailand being among the first to be given a successful vaccine for proper use, to intensify the vaccine production process.

Doctor Taweesin stated that in Thailand only one new COVID-19 case was reported on 20 May, increasing to 3,034 the number of confirmed cases. For the proof, 2,888 were cured; 90 were already injured and 56 died. A 45-year-old Thai chef who served in Bahrain was the latest event. He landed at a Thailand hotel in Bangkok on 15 May and was under emergency quarantine.

Thailand is among the six ASEAN nations, including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, according to YouGov, a regional public opinion and data firm, in terms of people who use hand sanitizers and face masks to battle COVID-19.

The majority (86 percent) of six ASEAN countries have stated that they wear "often" and "always" face masks when they leave the home. On May 19, 2020, the YouGov news article states, "Almost all Thais (95 percent) wear it in the last seven days" often "/" most, "making it the largest adopter of face masks in the six nations."

The use of hand sanitizer is a key reference for the WHO to defend itself and others from the infection. The Thai citizens seem to use it most likely and they have been using 'often' / "frequently" over the last seven days by four out of five (89 percent).
