The Royal Thai Police have released guidance on how to conduct ourselves during the Songkran festival in 2020 to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The public has been urged not to organize activities at any level. 

Violators of the prohibition on social gatherings are liable to a fine of up to 40,000 baht and/or a two-year jail term.

The guidance details 5 rules to keep during the Songkran holiday.

  1. Ban on water celebration
  2. Not pouring water to pay respects to the elderly
  3. Not returning to home town
  4. Suspending all religious activities at the temples
  5. it is a good opportunity to have a video call with your family. They will appreciate it and you will feel closer.
