Inspired and motivated by House & Techno DJ`s in Eastern Germany during the 1990's, Steve got his first turntables at the age of 15. DJing since the nineties, long before he even knew how to produce music, his first releases have been underlined and heavily inspired by gigs and parties in great clubs in Europe.
Steve has a positive attitude - his good mood is reflected in his sounds and performances. That's why he's always able to create a brilliant feeling of atmosphere during his sessions. Steve Nash played recently at Koh Phangan's Jungle Experience. We speak to him to find out more.......
What’s your Koh Phangan story?
Well I've been traveling to Thailand for more then 10 years now but since 4 years ago, I've always been coming back to Koh Phangan. There is no specific reason, I just really like the island and they have the best pad kra phao here :) (sweet basil)
What do you think of the party scene here?
If you compare it to the first years I would say the party scene made a huge change since 2 years ago. The more DJs from Europe played on the island, the people got more open for the European electronic music. This is amazing to see.
You’ve played a lot in Europe, what have been some of your best experiences there?
Every country and every club has it's own special vibes and I always have a good time but to be honest I still have goosebumps when I play at Watergate. It's not only because your friends are in front of you but playing in the mornings when the sun is out and the dance floor is still full is still one of the best experience at all times.
You played recently at Koh Phangan’s Jungle Experience, how was your set?
I shared some nice melodic techno tracks I'd prepared. I was really lucky to be able to play the sunrise set from 5 am until the end.
How did you first start DJ-ing?
I started at the age of 15 after I went to my first Love Parade in 1997 with some of my older friends. I was listening to Westbam in the evening at the Siegessäule and I was so impressed with the energy that I was sure to start my own music career after that.
Who have been some of your main influences as a DJ?
Definitely Robag Wruhme made a huge impact on my carrier. Still impressed when I see them or listen to their music.
What would you say to aspiring DJ’s?
Find your own way on creating music don't copy other DJ's - this will not lead you to success. Be outstanding and do your own thing.
Leave us with your life philosophy….
So many things will pull you down in your life but if you can make it to stand up again and keep working that's the goal. To have people around you love, that's my key to being happy.
