Phanganist gets the low down from Jungle Experience Headliner for October, Juany Bravo...
Hey, so are you looking forward to coming to Koh Phangan?
Honestly, I am teeming with excitement! I've only been to Koh Phangan once since I moved to Thailand and I had such a great time there.
What have you been up to already this year?
Ooh, where to start? As far as major gigs, I rang in the new year here in BKK at Mustache Bar, then was able to head to Koh Phi Phi to play at Dojo Bar and one of the boat parties there.
In the summer I was fortunate enough play the Underground Stage at WARP Music Festival, and have also been playing the pool party circuit here in BKK quite heavily.
As far as music goes I kicked the year off with a release on the coveted Audiophile XXL imprint with my boy BIJOU which did some damage on the Traxsource Top 100 Tech House charts, then dropped a solo EP on Dear Deer Records which climbed up the Beatport Top 100 Indie Releases Chart to #32.
Most recently I remixed Filthy French & Blacat's tune 'Power Of Change' which came out on Drop Low Records a few months ago, and just recently had a song of mine featured as the Toolroom Records ‘Demo Of The Week’ in the Toolroom Academy weekly newsletter, so that was actually awesome.
You're playing Jungle Experience on October 16th, what have you heard about it?
I've heard nothing but great things about the party! Incredible venue, great music and amazing crowd.
I'm honored to have been asked to come play, seeing as how so many great artists have graced that DJ booth.
What will you bring that is unique to Jungle?
I think more than anything my style of music. I associate myself with ‘Ghetto House’, which to me means tech house with attitude.
I come from a Hip Hop and Latin background, and it is definitely demonstrated in my productions and my sets. My music selection carries a lot of groove and bite!
What are your main projects for the rest of the year?
As far as gigs go, I am playing a big festival in the mountains here in Thailand in November, then heading to KL for a gig in December and trying to lock in some more dates in the SE Asian region, as well as Australia. Musically, I have a few releases slated on some labels, and also finishing up a couple EPs to have ready for release next year.
What would you say to aspiring djs hoping to play around the world?
My first word of advice is learn to produce music. If you really have a love for electronic music, and you want to see the world, take the time to learn to create it. There's nothing more satisfying than playing one of your own tunes to a crowd and seeing their reaction.
The second piece of advice, work your ass off and never let anyone, ever, tell you no, or that you should give up.
And leave us with your music philosophy....
As Nietzsche wrote, "without music, life would be a mistake".
