Cara Starfire Wade has been Healing and Rocking the Island for a while now.
She has been a DJ since January 2010 and a Yogi Healer since 2007.
Cara is originally from South Africa but has been travelling the world and 5 years ago she left the London corporate world to begin a career in Alternative healing.
“After completing my studies in London in Reflexology, Massage and Reiki, I started working from home and treating people in London. I then moved back to South Africa in 2009 after living abroad for 19 years and continued my work as a Therapist.
While going to yoga at my local studio my teacher encouraged me to start teaching at her place called The Sanctuary, which I did and loved it!
I completed Michel Besnard's 200hr Vinyasa Flow Ashtanga Teacher Training in Thailand in March 2012 and have since been teaching at The Yoga Retreat on Koh Phangan
I now have 10 years experience in personal yoga practice, styles include Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Jivamukti, 2 years yoga teaching experience in Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow.
“My DJ career started a little differently and with less of an idea of what I would end up doing!
I have always been friends with DJs and I understand music. When I say understand music, I mean really feel & understand the music. Not many people do, especially not many girls! My sister, Tira also has the same feel & understanding. This way we always connected to the DJs and from there the interest started.
I was clubbing in London for many years but I never really played then, at that time DJs were on turntables.
I tried a little here and there for fun, but I never really focused too much on developing my skills. Djing then moved onto CDJs and now everything is computerized which makes Djing far more efficient & not too technical!
Now I can really do my thing and it’s just about the music!
I got my first DJ job in January 2010 in a Club called Origin in South Africa, where I became resident every weekend until I left to come to Thailand earlier this year.
Since then I have played for fun where ever I could find a spot.
On Koh Phangan I played at Loi Lay, Recovery Lounge(now closed) and at 1 of Graham Gold’s parties.
I would Love to play at Eden Garden one day as a thank you for the excellent music David, Peter G, Joe & Sabrina have played at Guys & Eden!
Friday the 19th Nov. I’m gonna be playing at Fabrice’s (P.H.B) new place Mangos in Ban Tai for the opening.”
