If you already practice yoga or want to give it a try while on vacation, just about everything is better with a view of the ocean or the scent of frangipani. As Koh Samui establishes itself as a destination for all things green, organic, and nutritional, the island's yoga offerings are rapidly growing. Add some Koh Samui yoga to any part of your vacation – particularly if you visit during the cooler and rainier months of the year.
Finding yoga on Koh Samui will not be difficult, regardless of your schedule or skill level. Yoga is common here, and it's a great activity to do in the shade when the sun gets too hot as well as a great way to enjoy a rainy day in the wet season.
You'll find Koh Samui yoga rates to be very similar to major cities like London and Melbourne if you want to drop in for a spontaneous class when clouds accumulate or are coming for an ambitious yoga schedule (often in gorgeous, landscaped, open-air and ocean-view spaces). Higher prices reflect the prettier surroundings in the more expensive parts of the island, as one would imagine. You can also find more affordable classes and courses, you need to do a bit of searching to find what suits you most.
Since Koh Samui is the largest island, choosing the wrong part to live on can result in you being too far away from the amenities you want. Or, even worse, ending up in a party spot, unless that's what you're after!. We will guess not if you’re coming for yoga...
Lamai is the second most popular tourist spot in Samui (the first is Chaweng). The beach here is the island's second-largest beach. The water in the middle and south ends of the cove is deep enough for swimming, while the water at the north end is very shallow. The water is clear and produces few if any, waves.
There is a range of restaurants to choose from. Those near the beach tend to be a little more costly. A long stretch of street food stalls sells delicious food. There is a large Tesco and a Makro both of which sell European foods in bulk. Makro is a good place to go for fresh seafood, cheese, meat, fruits, and vegetables. Tesco sells groceries, clothing, and home goods.
This is the most well-known venue, so there is a lot going on here. If you want a lot of restaurants, bars, activities, and a beautiful beach all in one place, Chaweng is the place to go.
If you want to party all night, this is the place to go. The only people left in Chaweng tend to be a younger crowd and couples. Here, the beach is fantastic. Palm trees, white-sand beaches, and calm waters It is, however, very shallow. There are numerous shops selling souvenirs, clothes, toys, and other products. As in Lamai, there is a Tesco and a Makro.
Lipa Noi, on the island's western side, is a great place to see the sunset every night. This is a very quiet and lovely spot to visit. It's a nice place to visit, as is the nearby Nathon.
Sunsets are beautiful at Lipa Noi, which is situated on the west coast.
Mae Nam, north of the island, is another location with a low level of activity. This is the place to go if you want a quiet environment, a coconut-lined beach, and many restaurants and pubs.
The remote location, nature, beaches, and pristine seas make this island an ideal place to practice yoga. Yoga requires your focus on breathing, and doing so in an enclosed centre in the middle of a built-up area will be more difficult. Of course, it's better than nothing, however the fresh sea air will draw you to Koh Samui, with its free natural yoga shalas and lush jungle to cleanse the air you breathe.
Being on this island is, in some ways, a great shortcut to achieving a closer bond with Mother Earth, attracting people who open yoga classes, then students, teachers, and so on. It piques your interest in natural healing, as well as living and enjoying time away from the western world in a more traditional and authentic setting and way of life while immersed in nature. You naturally want to know how to keep your mind and body secure in order to avoid the need for treatment in the future, which is why Koh Samui is an excellent place to learn this. When you're alone, you can clear your mind and learn to incorporate these things back into your everyday life in the Western world.
Koh Samui is one of those islands that attracts visitors from all over the world, where you can meet people from all walks of life and exchange a range of skills that you would otherwise have to master by travelling to different countries.
