Did you know that there are 26 beaches on Koh Phangan? Some of them are well-known and loved by the tourists (Like Haad Rin that hosts thousands of people every month). The others are less crowded – because to get there you need either to hike or to take a boat.
One of that type is the Bottle Beach.
It’s the hardest one to get to but also one of the most adored by the locals. The tourists don’t usually get here – even during the high season. So if you want to escape the crowds – that’s the perfect place.
First you need to drive to Haad Khom – another remote and small beach. There you will have to park your bike and start the hike.
Beware of the monkeys – they are sneaking around to get some food and might attack you if see something tasty.
From the parking lot you will start amazing but also a pretty hard hike through the national park Than Sadet.
If you expect to see a trail that will take you to the beach - it's quite not so.
Of course, the route to the shore is marked with special signs. But mostly because you can easily lose the trail. You will have to hike through the real and wild jungles, cross the rivers and waterfalls, sometimes the elevation will be so steep, so you will just want to lay down somewhere under the tree. But upper you go, the more stunning the views will get.
So the main thing you need on this hike – water, comfortable shoes and determination – as the track will take around one hour – depending on your speed and stamina.
But you’ll understand that it’s worth it when you first see the water between the palm-trees. The water hier is of an amazing green color. And because of the winds on the northern side of the island- it’s very wavy here.
And after a hike it feels even nicer to get into the sea.
After cooling of you can just chill on the beach or have a lunch in one of two local bars. Or you can stay on the beach for the night – either at the resort, or in the simple bungalows on the shore.
The way back may seem a little too hard. Then you can hop on the fisherman’s boat and get back to Haad Khom. It will cost you around 100 THB per person.
But due to the waves that ride may be extremely scary and wet. Even the driver can get pretty intense struggling with the sea and trying not to get on the rocks.
But that ride, hike and a small beach like from the banners of the coconut chocolate – will make this day remarkable.
