Koh Phangan is gorgeous. It’s a beautiful tropical island that is 60% protected national park so although it has developed over the years it will never end up like Koh Samui which is much more developed.
One of the best ways to see the island is to rent a scooter and drive. Literally just drive about, get a bit lost, follow some roads and enjoy the roads and viewpoints. You will be amazed at all the sweet spots you can find and the amount of untouched jungle that is in the centre of Phangan.
But…
To really take in the astonishment of where you are, it is best to see Koh Phangan from the ocean.
When you take an island tour by boat you can view from the outside in yet still being in close proximity to all the beauty, floating on Phangan’s gorgeous seas. Only this way can you see the mountains and how much diversity the island has in terms of nature. It gives you a different perspective and makes you appreciate the island much more.
You can also jump from your boat at certain spots to swim in the sea surrounding Koh Phangan, with its pleasant temperature which makes it refreshing to cool off from the heat you will take back the memories of the experience swimming in paradise turquoise waters.
Seeing Koh Phangan from the Ocean is easy to do, there is plenty of choice of boat tours or you can even rent a kayak if you don’t mind not going too far out.
