Thong Sala is the main place where most people arrive for the first time, off of the boat from one of the three main piers.

In fact Thong Sala is the main town and centre of Koh Phangan and did you know that all of the roads on Koh Phangan lead to Thong Sala...?

The area is home to the main banks and the island's post office but what is Thong Sala famous for really?

The food market of course!

From traditional Thai cuisine, all sorts of curries and dishes to fried chicken, sticky rice and the famous fruit shakes, Thong Sala food market is the go to place for food.

You will also find lots of cuisines from all over the world including sushi, pizza, fresh pasta and Israeli dishes such as falafel and hummus.

A great way to experience the market is to go hungry!

Kind of obvious but you may be overwhelmed the first time you go. The great thing you can do as the stalls are pretty cheap is get a kind of pick and mix of stuff to enjoy.

Even eat one thing whilst you walk to the next stall.

Otherwise it is also perfect to sit down and have a 'proper dinner', there is a large seating area in the rear of the market and some of the stalls have tables also.
