So what’s happened since last time we spoke? As I write this I am just back from a brief look into Loi Lay, bloody busy at 10pm for a Monday night (for two weeks they are on a Mondays, the re-opening the week before was great also!) and then popped to Charm Beach Resort for Jeff’s Monday as needed to get paid for my set at Sandcastle from weeks back. Thank you Adam.
Anna, Juliette, Mel etc were all going to Loi Lay but I am on early morning training sessions this week!! Phanganist girl Ema was talking about E.D.M. Electronic DISNEY Music which I thought was brilliant!
Well I met with Boyonic to get paid for doing the voice over for the truck for Backyard, he had some exciting news to tell!! I went to Half Moon as my friend Ingolf was doing the laser show there and I have to say, the whole venue looked amazing. I also played three consecutive weeks at Guys Bar, which I loved, especially the morning set one.
There was a big fuck up the last time though, I had just bought the Allen & Heath Zone K2 controller/mixer. Darragh Casey installed it on my laptop after two hours trying with Leon Mestre did not do the trick (and he is brilliant at that kind of thing). Road tested it for two days and was perfect. Got an early boat to Guys so then sat in Sanctuary and had a coffee, and as I had 2 hours to spare thought I would just set the cue points in Traktor for some music I wanted to play. Then CRASH!!!!!! So I went to Guys Bar and called Joe Rickard who rushed down and thought we had fixed it, but my laptop crashed three times during my set. Joe was BRILIIANT and came down (I got him out of bed!) and set up but everything was fine then for the final hour-well almost, it crashed with five minutes to go but Darragh Casey had arrived by then and set up also, so he was good to go. So I spent three days Googling the problem, un-installing then re-installing but no good. I posted it on my FB and you won’t believe this but someone GAVE me a mac Book pro with Intel I7 processor and 8 gig ram!! How nice are some people?! Amazing!! But I still can’t get it to work despite downloading everything I need for a mac so as I write this I am just waiting to go to Miquel Matos as he has exactly the same equipment so should know (I hope!) what to do. Fucking laptops!!
What else? My girlfriend Sasha has been through the mill and back whilst getting her new passport in Kiev. Bless her, so resilient, and can’t wait for her to come back!!
I started a new monthly residency two days after every Full Moon at Cha Cha Moon on Samui, so the next one there for me is Sept 29th.
I had a nice time playing at Sandcastle for David Chongs return party to the island, though he didn’t actually return in time to make it!! Ha-ha. On the subject of returning Dj’s, Peter G got back and then celebrated his 40th birthday in fine style I was told!!! You can find Misha Tribal Skys downloadable set from that party up on his Facebook.
I started working on a new track recently but then had three weeks away from it, and though I had loved some of the great sounds I found, when I went back to it it all sounded too trance, fuck. I thought I had got trance out of my system, back to the drawing board or should that be back to loads of more hours trawling through Omnisphere!
Looking forward to playing Maya for the first time on the 24th alongside Darragh, David Chong and Rob Gritton. Ooh talking about Rob’s, the other Rob, Irish guitar playing Rob had a terrible scooter accident, but within five days of being in the public hospital in Surat, he had discharged himself and is looking good, considering, even with a haircut that resembles mine as he needed a head operation so they shaved all his locks off!! I have to say I had been to that hospital once before, and despite what I heard, they were all friendly and Rob did get good care. On a hospital note, don’t forget the spanking new First Western owned by Scottish Dr. Nick has now fully opened as proper hospital (even has maternity wards!!) and Melissa Binion works on reception. So proper English speaking personnel to talk to and if you are an island resident, you get Thai prices for treatment!!
