Speaking to the press in Bangkok yesterday (Oct 1), Minister Phipat announced that a party of 150 Chinese citizens, all entering the country on a new Special Tourist Visa (STV), would be the first international tourists to reach Thailand on a chartered flight under the conditional entry framework endorsed by the Center for the Administration of the Situation of COVID-19 (CCSA) for designated groups of foreigners.
The party will travel directly to Phuket on a chartered Air Asia flight, Mr. Phipat clarified, adding that another, smaller, group of seven Chinese businessmen will arrive at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on a private jet on the same day, State News Agency NNT says.
Another party of 126 Chinese tourists from Guangdong will travel on a chartered Thai Smile flight to Suvarnabhumi airport on Oct 25, he added.
A third party of 120 tourists from Scandinavia and the Schengen region would arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport on a Thai Airways International flight on November 1, he said.
With respect to alternate local state quarantine facilities (ALSQ) for visitor accommodation, Mr. Phipat said three hotels were selected in Phuket and one each in Chon Buri and the northeastern province of Buriram.
