According to Natapanu Nopakun, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all ex-pats residing in Thailand are registered for the Covid-19 vaccine. He claims Thailand intends to implement a "huge vaccination programme" that will vaccinate all Thai citizens, including foreign residents.
“Under the scheme, anyone living in Thailand, regardless of nationality, is entitled to receive the vaccine.”
He made the announcement today at the regular briefing of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. More details on the vaccination programme for foreigners living in Thailand will be published at a later date, according to Natapanu.
Health officials in Phuket and Koh Samui, which are considered “economically significant” tourist destinations, have already begun mass vaccination drives in an attempt to achieve herd immunity and reopen the islands to international visitors by July.
This month, an ex-pat who works as an English teacher at a school in Koh Samui says he got both doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, which is manufactured in China. He claims that the school assisted him with the enrollment process and that both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were given for free.
