True Online said it restricted access to the website of PornHub on Monday, drawing ridicule from netizens.
True Online, the communications conglomerate True Corporation's broadband home internet service arm, has confirmed its policy in a Twitter thread, the first official recognition of what many Thais already knew.
"Because it has pornographic content, we have blocked access to PornHub," the organization tweeted Monday in answer to a customer request.
Thai Internet law criminalizes the dissemination of pornography, as well as false information and content deemed to threaten national security, which imposes a maximum five-year prison sentence or a maximum fine of 100,000 baht.
Netizens responded with mockery to the company's announcement while others returned to the conventional form of voicing Internet indignation – asking for a True boycott.
