Thai food is great, but you may not want to eat it every day.
Perhaps you're longing for home or simply want to treat yourself; after all, everyone enjoys pizza!
You can indulge at home with friends, in a nice Italian restaurant with a glass of wine, or let it soak up all the bottles of beer and tequila shots you had at the bar earlier in the night.
Short History
In 1522, tomatoes were brought from South America to Italy for the first time. To begin with, it was thought that tomatoes were harmful. Fortunately, the area's impoverished peasants gradually overcame their fears about tomatoes and began mixing them with bread dough, resulting in the first pizzas, in the 17th century. As the popularity of tomatoes expanded, so did the popularity of mozzarella cheese. Only when water buffalo were imported from India in the 7th century did mozzarella become available in Italy (mozzarella was first made with water buffalo milk). Its popularity developed steadily until the second part of the eighteenth century, and it wasn't until 1889 that cheese and tomatoes were combined on a pizza. In 1889, an Italian tavern owner named Don Raffaele Esposito created a pizza with mozzarella cheese and basil, both of which are Italian flag colors. Margherita Pizza is named after Queen Margherita Teresa Giovanni. Modern tomato-and-cheese pizza was born as a result.
