Despite being overshadowed by its larger siblings, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, travellers are increasingly searching for a more calm island escape. While the other islands have their fair share of parties, Koh Tao is best renowned for being a diving destination. There is no better spot to acquire your PADI open water certification than this location, which offers moderately priced training and some of the best marine species in the area.

Which Area?

The majority of tourists to the island assemble in a few locations. They all cater to various types of travellers.
Sairee Beach is the place to be if you like to party! This is Koh Tao's longest stretch of beach and, without a doubt, the most excellent spot to stay if you want to party. The hot beach parties are held here, and backpackers recommend it as a great spot to meet other travellers. With so many restaurants and bars, being here should be all about eating, drinking, and having a good time!
Mae Haad - Great for Backpackers on a Budget! This is the spot to stay in if you're visiting the island for affordable diving courses. The best diving schools are all located here, and diving boats pick up passengers from the neighbouring dock. Staying in the area is inexpensive, and numerous lodging options exist. Beaches and restaurants are within walking distance. chalok chalok chalok chal
Baan Kao - A Relaxed Spot for Couples! Do you want to avoid crowds? This region is located on the island's quieter southern side. The beautiful vistas of John-Suwan and Chalok are only a short distance away, as are Freedom Beach and Shark Bay. You should schedule your stay here if you want some peace and the possibility of exploring.

Types of Budget Accommodation

Hostel

As described, a hostel is a low-cost housing that stresses communal living. The ability to meet individuals from all walks of life from all over the world is one of the finest advantages of staying in a hostel. You never know who you'll run into, which adds a sense of intrigue that is impossible to replicate when alone in a hotel room. Many hostels include all of the amenities you'd find in a hotel and a lot more. Read the description thoroughly before reserving a hostel because no two are alike. Most hostels nowadays have swimming pools, pool tables, and beer pong tournaments. So there'll be plenty to keep you busy!
However, we wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for privacy. Sleeping in an 8-person dorm can be challenging, especially if you are a light sleeper. Many hostels, particularly in Phangan, are designed for partying, so if you're a night owl who enjoys getting drunk every night, you shouldn't have any problems sleeping.

Resort

A resort is a full-service hotel that caters to vacationers and is frequently located in areas where people relax or unwind, such as beaches. The variety of facilities and amenities separates it from a ‘basic' hotel. A resort is a self-contained facility that caters to most vacationers' needs while keeping them on the property. One of the benefits of staying at a resort is that the guest enjoys round-the-clock service on the premises. You can eat, drink, swim, rest, receive treatments, and schedule activities without leaving the resort.

Hotel

A hotel is designed to lodge guests for the night or longer. There are several quarters on the property, each with mattresses, duvets, cushions, a toilet, and anything else a guest would need during their stay. The services supplied vary for every property but are tailored to the consumer's needs and wishes. What distinguishes them from resorts is that they may lack certain amenities such as swimming pools, restaurants, laundry, and other services, focusing instead on providing a place to sleep and relax.

Bungalow

The Thai islands are noted for their bungalows ranging from simple timber cabins to more modern concrete structures and everything in between. Bungalows can be located at resorts with amenities such as pools, restaurants, and stores or in isolated locations owned by a corporation or family. Bungalows (as opposed to houses rented from a landlord) come in various styles and comfort levels, with some having only a bed and toilet and others having balconies and kitchens.

House

Finding a monthly rental on the island is a terrific deal for the money and more convenient if you want to stay longer than a month. This will give you your private room and peace and be your genuine "home" for the duration of your stay. Most property rentals include kitchens, allowing you to cook your meals rather than eat out all the time.

What do you need?

Could you list the essential items to you before picking your budget hotel? We've already talked about the different sections of the island and the different types of accommodations; now it's time to select your amenities and services. Maybe you don't want anything so a hostel would suffice, and you don't mind sharing. But what if you want a specific level of comfort in your bedding, laundry service, or pool? Make a list of these details and double-check them with the venues

This is a terrific option if you don't mind a short uphill walk! This cosy hostel, located away from the busy downtown area yet close enough to check out the party, is ideal for those trying to stretch their budget. They feature a combination of en-suite rooms and dorms that are well-kept and cleaned regularly. There are two fan-only dorms and two AC-only dorms, with variable pricing. According to several backpackers, the walls are a little thin, so choose rooms away from the reception area to get a decent night's sleep. The crew is praised for their friendliness and eagerness to ensure their customers have a fantastic time on the island.

Aukotan Place Hotel

Aukotan Location is a hidden gem for people looking for a quality place to stay that isn't going to break the bank. The rooms are large, well-kept, and tastefully designed. Everything is close by, even though it isn't exactly on the beach. It's preferable to rent a motorcycle if you're staying here, though the hotel does offer a free shuttle to the major beaches and pier.
