108 Sun Salutations at The Yoga House

5 Apr 08:00

Yoga House

Join us on Wednesday April 5th from 8:15 - 9:45 for 108 Sun Salutations.
Practicing 108 sun salutations is a powerful way of meditation in action for inner and outer peace.
This is a beautiful way to start the day and bring light to the darkness, honoring the sun as an essential life giving force.
Sun Salutations is a kind of a prayer to let the sun in light our darkness parts inside of us.
When we practice 108 sun Salutations we practice meditation in action...like repeating a mantra that helps us calm the mind.....we repeat the action and our mind moves a side so we can observe our bodies and soul ....actually we become present in the moment.

108 is a sacred number in the Indian methodology.
There are a number of examples:
1.108 beads in the mala.... repeatingthe mantra 108 times
2. Almost all the hindu gods have 108 names.
3. The distance between the sun and earth is 108 times the diameter of the sun.
4. The distance between the moon and earth is 108 times the diameter of the moon.
5. the size of the sun is 108 times the diameter of earth .

The sun and the moon are an important simbol in the Indian culture and the meaning of the word hata yoga... ha= sun
Ta= moon.
The sun represents the consciousness.
And the moon represents the prana= life force
When there is a balance between these two forces then we can see the divine or in other words inlightment.
In the yoga perception we see the human being as a microcosmos of the macrocosmos. And what ever happened in the macrocosmos happens inside of us and we can reach the knowledge when we are one with the divine...
Some say that 108 sun Salutations are 108 steps toward the inlightment.....
