In the run up to International Yoga Day we speak to another Agama teacher, Aldona...

Where do you teach and what do you teach?

I teach Hatha Yoga, kids Yoga, and occasionally lead meditations at Agama Yoga.

How did you get involved with this school and how did you end up on Koh Phangan?
I enrolled in Agama’s First Level Intensive Course for the first time in November 2013 after receiving a friend’s recommendation. I came and fell in love with the school, the teachings and Yoga style.

What do you think can be achieved from International Yoga Day?
More union through and by Yoga of course!

And what uniqueness will you personally bring to this event?
Bombastic energy, like our dear friend Jim from Penang told me.

How has yoga changed your life?
Yoga has taught me to really feel the value of a healthy lifestyle in all senses of the word through practice and experience.

Yoga makes me want to love myself and others much more than I thought in earlier years of my life.

And why do you think practicing yoga in Koh Phangan is good for people?
Practicing Yoga on Koh Phangan is extra powerful because of the strong, vibrant, undeniably radiant and magnetic energy which this island has. It feels to me that my Yoga practice is stronger in Phangan than anywhere else in the world I’ve been.

Why should people join you for IDY?

Because there’s no better way to start your day than to practice Yoga together! We’ll get our energies moving to get prepared for a big day.

And leave us with your Yogi Philosophy...
I don’t feel it is correct to call it my own as it has been inspired by many great teachers, life-experiences, and intuitive insights. But I do always say that Worldwide Yoga leads to Worldwide Peace or at least has the power to diminish conflicts around the world!
