Phangan Cove, resort and restaurant in partnership with Phanganist and Leo Beer.
We have followed Eiu from Phangan Cove for many years now and we are proud of her for all her accomplishments whilst we have known her.
When we got to know hEiu she was in her resort Liberty which since then has changed into Phangan Cove, moving from Baan Tai area to Sri Thanu.
She is famous for her cuisine and friendly attitude and we are happy to update you a bit on her and her doings!!
We'll start from the beginning so everyone is be able to follow;
How long have you been on Koh Phangan?
I have been here for fifteen years already! Since 2001. I came over here to be with my husbands family.
Before I had a resort in Baan Tai that I called 'Liberty'. Already then I had a lot of frequent guests who came to enjoy my cuisine! Now I have been running Phangan Cove for six years already though.
What kind of cuisine are you focusing on? Is your food connected to your families style of cooking?
I learnt cooking from my mum! She was a really good cook, so I have been learning for all my life!
From what area would you say your food would be most connected to?
It is hard to say any area really, because my cooking is adapted to Koh Phangan style.
If I have to say any area it must be Surat Thani, just around the corner here on the mainland. - and then food from Europe. I have a big menu for european food also.
Tell me one thing that you cannot live without in the kitchen?
If we are talking about Thai food I cannot live without fresh coconut milk. - and I always need to make a (curry) paste.
If we are talking about European food, herbs and fresh tomato sauce are the most important ingrediens. I also always have fresh burgers and never use any frozen stuff.
What is your favorite dish and why?
For my last birthday we made BBQ Thai style. So this is a favorite of mine.
Otherwise I will recommend the Thai red curry duck. This dish is really special and very tasty!
Tell us one thing that you feel you do better than the other restaurants on the island?
Everything is always fresh. I would never cook from ingredients that have been frozen down first.
Our seafood here is special too. And everything we make looks very tasty and beautiful!
What do you want to focus on for the upcoming year that will insure your success as one of the leading resort restaurants on the Island?
Keep cooking the same taste so people know what they get when they visit and then I have created a more new menu aswell.
New foods and more veggie style and Thai food.
Phangan Cove is in Sri Thanu and has many yogi resorts and it is known as a Yogi area so we have more vegetarians here seeking real healthy food.
What is your life philosophy?
Smile every day!
And make food with love! If you are not happy when you cook then the food is also not 'happy' and becomes no good!
What would you like to say to the people thinking to come to Phangan or thinking to visit you?
Everyone is welcome here! I love people of all kinds and we speak good English here and are always ready to help you!
I would like to say also that people really have to try the Penang curry. It is a very special dish and so tasty!!
Patai is also something every 'fallang' should try! It will really surprise you that it is such a good taste.
We always have good fresh seafood for both Thai people and Europeans.
We are running a very good resort with a luxurious vibe, clean and quiet and right on the Beach.
We are even so lucky to have a beautiful sunset here nearly every evening. It is a very beautiful beach and one of the only beaches on Phangan where you can find the Shiva eye shells.
It is a family beach also and many families come here together with the yoga people. Prices are affordable but the resort is luxurious.
We are also proud to have the Phanganist office here. We like to work together. We have done so for many years and Sharon, Emma, Russell and Linda are very good friends.
