You’ve come to the tropics of Thailand to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy yourself at some legendary parties but trying to get everything squeezed into the short time you have can quickly mean a ‘burn out’ rather than a refreshing experience. How can you avoid this and make the most of your trip to Koh Phangan?!

Slow down
It is hard to not slow down here amongst the island lifestyle in general but remember to take time to slow down inside. There’s going to be so much you want to do while you’re here but you must remember to relax and rest in between.

Take up reading in your hammock next to the beach, make sure to actually get over a hangover before you start the warm up drinking again and don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything, viewpoints and treks aren’t going anywhere and the Phangan Party scene is always still happening for when you are refreshed again.

Make a plan or don’t make a plan
Some people thrive on having an itinerary whilst for some it would add to the stress so figure out what will work best for you.

Maybe scheduling your time will help you plan that much needed rest time or maybe it would be too much. It could be a plan for your whole trip or maybe just a few days but a little scheduling sometimes helps.

Stay connected
Stay in touch with loved ones from home and also new friends here. Talking to family can help to keep you grounded and realistic whilst being here on hedonistic party island where the magic can sometimes take over some people.

Also remember to check in with mates that are here with you, stay connected so you can make sure you are all safe and not getting a burn out that could be detrimental to your time on Koh Phangan or your whole trip in general, look after each other because it’s a jungle out there!

Get a massage
It’s a must do when you’re in Thailand anyway and a great way to switch off and de-stress from any worries you might have.

Self Care
A well as the above mentioned massage there are other self care activities you can do to make sure you don’t burn out here.

Make sure to actually sleep! All that partying can take its toll on your body and we know it’s tempting to just keep going but you will want to present yourself 100 percent and be able to keep up a high energy which will be impossible without rest!

Even simple things such as spending a day reading or watching a movie with friends can be good self-care or you could visit one of the island’s beautiful saunas for some pampering.

Drink water and eat!
Don’t get dehydrated! Drink plenty of water during the day and also at nighttime! Even at those famous parties try to stay as hydrated as you can and it will help your next day recovery!

Make sure to eat before you start drinking to prime your stomach and keep those energy levels up in the daytime also so you can do all those amazing island treks, tours and activities.

You don’t have to go to EVERY party
Do you get FOMO? Well, you need to chill…

If you go to every single party here on Koh Phangan then you’ll be exhausted, you will look rubbish, you’ll be a quivering wreck without even noticing it and the ‘come down’ will be massive. This is one of the main causes of ‘burn-out’ here on Phangan for obvious reasons.

Be selective with your partying, you know what they say ‘quality over quantity’.

Nature
Feeling the burn, the stress, confusion over what to do with your life or your next location? Go sit in some nature.

Whether it be a dip in the ocean, a walk along the beach or a jungle trek, nature is a sure way to help you calm down and Phangan is the most beautiful place to immerse yourself in some Mother Nature.

Go Home
Maybe it’s time to just go home…

You’ve rinsed the whole visa process, you’ve run out of money, you’re exhausted and you need a change of scenery, book a ticket home and remember that Koh Phangan will still be here next year, the year after that and well, the next year too.

Take care kids!!
