Number Seven - Full Moon Party!
It is what made the island so famous. And although Koh Phangan has SO MUCH MORE to offer than just this, as a younger traveler you would be mad to miss it off your list!
It all began in the 1980’s when travellers noted that Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan was the most beautiful place to see the Full Moon and so a celebration was organised on the beach.
The party grew over the years and now attracts around thirty thousand people to the island every month to party together like only young people can.
The Full Moon Party happens when there is a Full Moon unless it falls on a Thai National Holiday or Buddhist Day when it takes place the day after.
If you’re coming for the party then you’ll likely choose to stay in a hostel either in Haad Rin or one of the more developed hostels in Baan Tai. These are the best places to form your crew, pre-party and drink and then hit the beach as a party squad.
It’s a once in a lifetime party that you’ll remember forever, even if you forget some details because of those buckets!
But, remember to stay longer and enjoy the island of Koh Phangan!
