Phanganist gets a Makeover!

Phanganist had the pleasure of being invited to Island Beauty Spa which is owned and run by the truly lovely Katerina Suvorova.
We had no idea what to expect or what treatments would be involved but as we had met and spoke with Katerina before we knew to just trust her!
The spa is located in Thong Sala on the corner near Family Mart, you cannot miss it with it’s purple and gold colour scheme and flower of life logo, this place definitely oozes good quality from the first glance.
When we walked in we were greeted by Katerina and she introduced us to her therapist Kseniya and her Mother who was visiting at the time, and probably getting spoilt rotten! Lucky lady. She also has a therapist called Victoria who may be there when you visit.

Katerina really does look after you there and she has an air of professionalism but with a cheeky sense of humour, she is in her element in her spa.
The team first showed us a few treatments that they offer at Island Beauty spa including professional waxing, anti cellulite programs, Facial threading, Massages, a cedar wood sauna and many more! Also, don’t be scared boys, they already have many male clients! Katerina really wanted us to enjoy the treatments that lay ahead so she insisted that we take some photo’s first so we didn’t have to think about it during our ‘relaxation’ time, (Em was warned that one of hers would not be as relaxing as Sharon's).
Below you can see Kseniya giving Katerina's mother one of Island Beauty Spa's professional face cleans, this is a very important part of any treatment process, it helps rejuvinate skin and helps with oily problems especially in this climate.

Sharon was whisked away first of all to the Cedar Wood Sauna, this is a special imported one person sauna. You choose your special Russian Herbal oil depending on what you are focusing on, whether it be relaxation, weight loss or energising your mind and body, we went for a mixture. Sharon found his experience in the sauna “very positive”, he was treated to a head massage and face scrub whilst relaxing in the sauna, forgetting about the stresses of work.

At this time Em was taken with Katerina into one of the private treatment booths, these are luxurious, with a comfortable bed and material curtains surrounding each one.

“I had been saving myself for Katerina, the poor girl, I had not touched my eyebrows for around a month, I thought I should leave them to professional hands! I usually wax them as this had given me the best results back in the UK before I moved to Phangan but Katerina explained that threading is the best method because it does not touch the actual skin which is very important in this heat and climate in Thailand. I lay on my back and had 100% trust in Katerina’s abilities. The eyebrow threading was not painful but I consider myself to have quite a high pain threshold. Katerina created the perfect shape for my face and didn’t do them too thin either which is good for me. I had a change of mind in terms of pain when it came to having my upper and bottom lips threaded though. This hurt. But no pain no gain! And it is all worth it in the end, plus I guess once you get used to it after a few treatments it will get easier. Katerina’s presence makes the whole thing a lot more comfortable, she knows what she is doing!”

Sharon then emerged from the sauna in a dream like hypnotised state and was taken to his private treatment booth and Em was taken to the sauna where she was treated to a coffee and honey face mask.
In the booth Sharon was given a body scrub and face massage which he describes as “very nice”, he seems lost for words…

After Em’s time relaxing in the sauna she was given a very enjoyable Spanish face massage which Katerina tells us is also age defying, after a few treatments it’s a bit like a face lift, your skin and tone can look much younger.

“It was very relaxing, Kseniya had the most gentle hands yet you could really FEEL some work being done, it helps you float off into space for a while”.

Whilst Sharon was still laying down in his dreamy state, Katerina took Em to tint her newly manicured eyebrows and eyelashes to really finish the job.
It was a wonderful experience for the Phanganist team to have a bit of pampering, everyone should remember to treat themselves and look after their mind, body and spirit. As Sharon and Em had birthdays within 5 days of each other (Sharon's had just been and Em’s was coming up) we even all had tea and cake afterwards. The cake was brought round by Sweetshell in Thong Sala and it was an indulgent treat for sure!

Katerina welcomes anyone to her spa,, they are very professional yet still friendly so you will feel at ease. The main thing that Katerina loves is when people leave her Spa feeling more beautiful, it makes her so happy.
This is definitely the new secret of all these beautiful faces on Koh Phangan, everyone is going to see Katerina at Island Beauty Spa!
