Seven new cases of coronavirus confirmed in New Zealand on Saturday. The lockdown in the country's largest city, Auckland, was prolonged on Friday in reaction to the country's first coronavirus epidemic in months.

After reviewing this case, six of the seven new reported incidents were related, said the Health Minister Ashley Bloomfield, at a news briefing.

The newest cases bring the overall outbreaks in New Zealand to 1258 since the beginning of the year, although the number of still infected cases is 56. So far, 202 people have died.

The lockdown in Auckland, home to 1.7 million residents, was prolonged for almost two weeks. It followed the first COVID-19 infection case in 102 days reported about the family in Auckland, on Tuesday.

New Zealand and nearby Australia have experienced much less of the COVID-19 pandemic illnesses, and deaths compare to many countries, thanks in part to rapid lockdown steps. Although economically expensive, the measures created people's trust in the two leaders considerably.
