Hey Eddy so what is your Bangkok story?
A two year world backpacking jaunt ended in Bangkok and I still wasn’t ready to return home to my native Vancouver, Canada.
I was lucky enough to get a DJ gig at Bed supperclub, staying was the only logical and fun choice to do!
Have you ever visited Koh Phangan or other parts of Thailand and what do you think?
I have been fortunate to travel to Pangan many times and play there on a few other occasions. I have attended the infamous Full Moon party thirteen times, not sure if I should be proud of that!
Loving the north part of the island the older I get. Unfortunately I don’t get to Phangan nearly as much as I would like to given its difficulty to travel to, a possible reason why it maintains its charm.
How did you get involved with KU DE TA?
When Bed shut, KU DE TA opened a month later with half the Bed staff migrating over, seemed like an easy slide.
And what is the 'concept' of the club?
Multi-zoned, big room clubbing for those that want to party in a quality space.
What sorts of different nights do you hold there?
Tuesdays: Soul Kitchen: Old school Hip-hop, funky House, funk, groove
Crush Wednesdays: Ladies night with the Bangkok invaders, for the kids.
Thursdays: This is House, House music straight up for the cool kids
Flash Fridays: Hip Hop, R&B and Twerk
Stereo Saturdays; Big room House, Garage and Future House
We have managed to maintain a NO EDM policy.
And do you have a favourite party?
Thursdays are my favourite night at the KU DE TA.
For outside the club, I think what ‘Kolour’ is doing for bringing cool music in interesting environments to a larger audience is impressive.
Tell us a bit about what is happening in the Bangkok Party scene at the moment?
I don’t go out as much as I would like these days but it seems to be getting less about clubbing and more about lounging and foot tapping in smaller more intimately themed out spaces. The new Beam club blows my theory out of the water though!
And how do you see KU DE TA over the next couple of years?
I feel that we are just hitting our stride after two years with giving the crowd what they want and refining our product.
We have a few cool ideas also for during the week that we are working on currently that involves giving back to people that have been supportive to us and to the community at large.
We have an amazing internal team that I am really happy to work work that honestly cares about people having a good time and being appreciative to those that got us here.
Why should people come to the club?
It is quite unique in its position of what it offers in the Bangkok club space. Impressive views, a great sound system and lights, professional staff and security and just an overall quality sophisticated clubbing experience.
We are starting to know who we are and that honesty endears us to those that like us and don’t.
And what do you get up to in your free time?
Hockey, biking, running, audio books (Philosophy, nutrition, sustainability), meditation, vegan restaurant escapades with more interstitial hockey sessions in-between.
Sum up Ku De Ta in 3 words...
Upscale, hi-fidelity, clubbing.
And leave us with your life philosophy...
Sustainable happiness comes from within, follow your heart... it always knows what’s right, be yourself and avoid being impressionable.
