Miguel Matoz Dj & Producer!
Miguel discovered Koh Phangan only 3 years ago but has ever since made it a tradition to come back twice a year.
“It’s a perfect place to show my work” he says about Phangan.
The first time Miguel came to Phangan he met and connected with our Residents David Chong, Peter G and Darragh Casey and they have kept in touch since then.
When he was here last time he played at the Jungle Experience on Nov 27 and this is the best place he has played on the island, he states.
What do you expect from the Jungle Experience March 21?
It can only be awesome!
Right now Miguel is mostly playing a mixture between House and Tech House so it will be a Techy House night at the Jungle when he comes to boogie behind the decks there!
According to him the Jungle Experience is a perfect place for his music!
Miguel has been doing the IBIZA boogies a lot as well.
He Loves to play on Ibiza but he also likes the difference between the places and here he feels better connection with the nature and that means a lot to him!
Miguel is from Portugal and has since the 90”s partied his behind of in the Lisboan Club scene.
“It was one of the best destinations to party! They had a very big scene at that time already!
Today we have fewer Club and many more Day parties.
We do feel the Iberian influence in Lisbon!”
The very famous Trance Festival Boom is taking place every second year in Portugal. Is this also your scene?
“Yes definitely!
Boom Festival is something big. The festival takes from 3 – 5 days and is a very special event!
Thousands of People from everywhere in the world gathers on this festival to listen to Psy Trance music and enjoy each other’s company.
While it takes place this becomes a small village with camping spots, shower towers, food markets, shops, chill outs and of course 2 or 3 dance floors with full line ups through all the days and nights! It is a remarkable event every two years.”
Miguel has just now signed with Clarisse Records from Mendo ( Cadenza ) and believes this will be something huge!
We will all be looking forward to the first release!
Mendo is Miguel's favourite producer right now so for sure it will be an interesting project!
- also Hot since 82, Nic Fanciully, Mikalogic is some of his favourite producers these days.
Why did you go from just DJing till fully producing music yourself?
“This was the right direction to follow in the 90’s when I was a hip hop singer.
I had very early the musical contact.”
Miguel enjoys the nature and the beach and he draws most of his inspiration from these places!
He just launched a new project called “Instead”.
This is a Minimal piece of art and has been well received by Beatport f.ex.
The first EP is already chartered 43#!
He also started a new Label called SouledBlack Recordings.
In the end of April he and Mendo will have a new EP out and a lot of parties are coming up for this summer with Clarisse Rec. where he and Mendo will play together.
Nakadia, Danny Serrano and many others will also be in the Line ups and play alongside with Miguel.
This is for the next year. When we asked him about the next 10 he said he hoped to see himself married with kids and living on Phangan!

He is a simple man who dreams of Peace, Love & Music and takes pleasure in the simple things – like enjoying and laughing with his dog Maya. He sees himself as a Happy Person!
If anyone ever freaked him out – they did it by asking if he wants to eat DOG!
Miguel believes he got to where he is today by taking 1 day at the time!
