Tourists Moriel and Lisa'a Full Moon Experience

Phanganist was all hands on deck on Wednesday 16th November, the morning after the Full Moon Party. The Tourist Association office at the pier where we are based was busy, busy with hungover party people trying to organise their next movements whether it be to Koh Tao, Samui or back onto the mainland, of course we happily helped.

The Tourist Association set up this office with the intention of it being a nice waiting and meeting point for people when they arrive to or leave Koh Phangan. For Phanganist as the volunteers here we help and support tourists if they have a problem or need help and they can use the WIFI or just relax whilst waiting.

Some lucky ladies spotted our sofa, the perfect place to chill out whilst waiting for their boat to arrive. And lucky for us, they agreed to speak to us about last night’s experiences!!

Hi Moriel and Lisa, what did you think of the Full Moon party?
Moriel - It was my first time. I had heard it’s crazy, lots of people, lots of drinking, lots of dancing and that’s exactly what it was but it was crazier than I thought it would be!

Lisa - It was exactly what I expected and more. I have waited ten years to come to this so it was a big deal for me. I never had the opportunity to come before as I have lived all the way in America so it’s far to come. I don’t know why I did it now but I just decided to book the ticket, there wasn’t much thought in it.

If I was younger I would have appreciated it more but I did enjoy it still as it’s my childhood dream so I definitely did still appreciate it.

Where did you go, what were your movements of the night?
I don’t know, I just kept walking around and never stayed in one place for one time.

Did you see anything crazy?
Somebody was in one of the hospitals and the staff were not helping and I wasn’t sure if he was ok or not.

There was a ceremony for the late King Rama IV beforehand, how were the local Thai people?
I didn’t see the ceremony but the Thai people were nice at the party.

Did you manage to see Koh Phangan?
No I got here yesterday and am leaving today.

How did you end up here in the office?
I saw a sign that said ‘free wifi’ and saw the sofa so thought ‘I am coming there’.

What was your overall impression of the party?
It’s very crazy.
