Mixed news regards opening the borders to tourists to come to Thailand are keep being updated. It is still not very clear what is going to happen in that matter in the next few months, as same as in many other countries.

On Friday (August 28), deputy government spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul said that Thailand would not open fully to foreign tourists along with the "Phuket Model" guidelines at any time soon.

The primary reason for not opening at any time soon is that the government needs to consider so many details.

She added that to ensure that there is no second wave of outbreaks, the Thai government will have to consider many aspects and factors, including guidelines, screening processes, and measures to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.

She added that people from Phuket and Thai tourists should be assured that no measures will be taken to reopen the borders before the utmost precaution is established.

According to the Phuket Model, tourists will be able to land on the island, but they will then have to undertake a 14-day quarantine, and their travel areas will be limited. Access will also be open to COVID-Free tourists only.
