"Please feel free to take whatever you like, and leave whatever you can spare." A sign like the one displayed over a shelf unit outside a Toyota Sure showroom on Mittraphap Highway in Khon Kaen district of Muang can now be seen in many locations around the world, as people support each other to reach ends after the coronavirus has devastated the economy.

Critical products such as instant noodles, drinking water, food, canned fish and essential medications are in the group pantry at Khon Kaen. The latest distribution program parallels the free meals that temples and  other contributors give to citizens left starving because of the pandemic shutdown.

In other nations , including the United Kingdom, the proposal has been used as a  means to support individuals who have lost their jobs and sustain their families during this tough period.

Ms Kulwadee has been given permission from the auto showroom to  place her goods outside the premises as many passers-by would see her.  The showroom even provided a security guard to look after the pantry, with manager Chokchai Khunwasee saying: "We 're happy to be part  of this sharing initiative." Pantries were put at many locations across Bangkok, four on Saturday by a volunteer community naming themselves Little Brick.

In the Mittaphap village in Muang district, Nakhon Ratchasima has at least one pantry.

It was initiated by community leader Anuwat Ploedjanthuek after he saw people thrown out by Covid-19 from jobs in the area. "Residents housed in the community of 500 houses were left jobless. They don't have jobs and no money, "he said  of his motivation to set up the project for food-sharing.

There have also been Community pantries in Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

There is now a community pantry here also on Koh Phangan!
