The Thai Government officially declared yesterday a blanket extension for migrant laborers in the country. They are now permitted to remain in Thailand until 30 November this year and will be free from some sort of over-stay fine.

Government Speaker Narumon Pinyosinwat says the government approved the Cabinet Resolution review by the Ministry of Labor on March 24 on the leniency limit for migrant laborers and their dependents.

"Migrant laborers can live in the Kingdom temporarily until November 30." "They will use the list of migrant employment conditions provided by the Department of Labour and the new work permit." This has been a problem because most crossings remain closed from other countries because of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Most migrant workers come from neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar and many of these employees are working in the building and fishing industries which are still largely functioning despite the current crisis.
