The government announced on Friday 50 new local cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), taking the number to 2,473 in 68 provinces, and one recent death, a woman with lupus, increasing the toll to 33.
Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, Center for Covid-19 Condition Administration spokesperson, said the dead woman was a vendor suffering from chronic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
The spokesperson said people aged 20-29 were the predominant category of local Covid-19 cases as they employed and commuted and were at high risk to contract the disease and pass it on to family members.
Of the 50 current cases 27 individuals were in near touch with past patients. Many, 11, were in Bangkok, accompanied by 7 in Yala province.
There included five citizens employed in busy areas or around tourists, four emergency professionals, three returners and three busy areas guests. A further eight remain under review.
The biggest number of new cases, 19, is in Bangkok, followed by seven in Yala, five in Phuket, four in Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan, two in Nakhon Sawan and Prachin Buri and one in Chachoengsao, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phangnga, Phayao and Surat Thani. Phangna has their first event.
Of 2,473 local cases the majority were registered in Bangkok, 1,262, followed by 166 in Phuket, 148 in Nonthaburi, 108 in Samut Prakan, 77 in Yala, 73 in Chon Buri, 66 in Pattani, 47 in Songkhla, 40 in Chiang Mai and 30 in Pathum Thani.
