On Sunday, the Thai Immigration Bureau issued an advisory stating that, by Sept. 26, all foreigners with transit or tourist visas or visas upon arrival (VoA), whose stay in Thailand was extended due to COVID-19 outbreak, must leave Thailand.

Recently, the Thai cabinet approved extending stay for foreigners stranded in Thailand due to COVID-19 pandemic until Sept. 26.

After Sept. 26, the Immigration Bureau said it won't issue any more automatic extensions for tourists.

The office said an extension will be allowed only to tourists who can show evidence of illness, or obstacles such as no available flights.

Each extension is granted no longer than 30 days.

In the meantime, Thai Airways, Thailand's national carrier, will operate two special Bangkok-Frankfurt return flights in August to facilitate travel for passengers wishing to return to Germany and those wishing to return to Thailand.
