China recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 for May 10, increasing from a day earlier and marking the largest daily rise since April 28, official data released on Monday indicated.

Seven of the latest outbreaks were imported case having international travelers involved, compared with two foreign infections on May 9.

In the central city of Wuhan, where the epidemic first appeared in late 2019, five of the new cases were registered, the highest since March 11.

The total case count is now 82,918, and the death rate remains constant at 4,633, respectively.

The number of asymptomatic COVID-19 reports, those affected but not displaying signs, fell to 12 on May 10, compared to 20 recorded earlier a day.
