Hundreds applying for Emergency Loans due to Corona Pandemic

Parn Phet Market Government Savings Bank bin Mukdahan has reported that hundreds of Thai people were queueing up to apply for emergency loans from the government as they have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The queue was so long that it went all the way out to the street.

First they had to make an online application and then they were invited for a face to face interview. The bank are offering loans of 10,000 and 50,000 baht with special low interest rates to self-employed people and those still with jobs that are on hold due to the crisis.
 

Applications are only being taken from Thai nationality of at least 20 years of age and they must have a residency certificate and phone number. It is only available for people who earn 30.000 baht a month or less, traders, sellers, bus drivers, taxi drivers and guides.

The government has set aside 20 billion baht for this stimulus scheme to help people during this time.
