It comes as as much of a shock to us as it does to you all that October's Full Moon Party has now been cancelled. All celebrations of any kind will cease from October 1st in respect to the Royal Cremation.

There had been a meeting on September 17th confirming it will go ahead but the decision was changed yesterday by the Thai Government as they thought it would be more appropriate to start the mourning from the beginning of the month.

This is a historic moment for the country and people of Thailand.

However...

One year ago when the King passed away the Full Moon Party was cancelled yet it was still a beautiful time, one of mourning from the local community yet peace and celebration just on a much quieter scale. Tourists still gathered on the famous Haad Rin beach, candles were lit in remembrance and it was a beautiful time to see the combination and togetherness of the Thai Community and visitors to the island.

Koh Phangan is still expecting a large number of people because of the late cancellation so the island will still be alive. People will gather together, socialising will carry on, the island's nature does not go anywhere and Koh Phangan without music is actually a wonderful place to be and spend time on.

Our thoughts are with the Thai Community at this sad time.
