Have you been looking for the perfect place to watch the sunset?
As the high season gets going, each day more and more musicians, poi artists and generally laid back souls head on down to Zen Beach to watch the sun go down.
The atmosphere is beautiful. The clouds and colours in the sky are magical. A great way to wind down at the end of the day whatever you have been doing.
Soft drum beats, dancers, families, children playing, people swimming in the calm waters under the gentle end of day light. It is something truly special.
At the moment, the best time to arrive to catch the sunset is from around 5.30 pm. This gives you a good half an hour to soak up the atmosphere as the sun descends.
Whether you want somewhere to meditate or unwind, Zen Beach is a great place to go.
It’s also good for meeting like-minded people. Katerina, friend of Phanganist, adopts a popular advertising slogan to apply to Zen Beach - “Zen Beach - connecting people”.
So, grab your djembe drum, your blanket and your flip flops and absorb the quiet and calm.
You can find Zen Beach by heading to C&M Cultural Centre school at the top of Sri Thanu. Take the turning into the school and keep going. As the road forks, take the right hand side. Keep going and park up. Walk straight ahead under a bamboo barrier and you will arrive!
Enjoy!
Zen Beach is of course one of many beaches on Koh Phangan.
We are so lucky to live on an island with an astonishing amount of beautiful sunset beaches.
Hin Kong Beach is another stand-out. Starting from Wok Tum (and in fact from around Tong Sala) you will experience amazing sunsets during some parts of the year. View points in the area, including Amsterdam Bar and Rocky Mountain offer a perfect view of the spectacle.
Then there's Happy Beach up by Phangan Cove and nudity beach. Up north in Chaloklam you can enjoy views with music at the 360 bar .
