This announcement was following last night's tragedy when a Raja ferry boat sank on the way from Koh Samui to Donsak.
The alert given earlier today by TMD Director-General Somsak Khaosuwan was that at 10 am local standard time today (August 2), the Category 3 tropical storm "SINLAKU" landed over Vietnam, based at Thanh Hoa, with maximum sustained winds of around 65 km/h.
The storm moved west-northwest at speeds of 15 km / h and was predicted to degrade to a tropical depression over Laos before being further downgraded to a low-pressure cell, he added.
